Hot Chocolate
(image)
Some of you may think I've abandoned my blog because I am so
busy/lazy/uncreative, etc . . . but really I am just trying to weed out the riff-raff. If you are reading this, congratulations, you are not riff-raff.
This winter we've loved drinking hot cocoa made from homemade mix. It's way better than swiss miss or stephens and I like having mix around because then my kids can do it themselves. I would love to package it up paired with homemade marshmallows or biscotti and give as gifts. Maybe next Christmas.
Hot Cocoa Mix (adapted from Tyler Florence)
Mix together:
3/4 c. powdered milk
1/2 t. ground cinnamon
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa powder
4 oz. bittersweet chocolate, roughly chopped (optional, add it if you like rich, chocolaty hot cocoa)
Store in airtight container.
The recipe suggests using 1/2 c. mix to 1 c. water, but we found this way to rich. We use 2-3 T. mix per mug of hot milk. We also found that if you add the powder to the milk before microwaving it, it usually runs over.
