GIANT ice cream sundae

Last week we had nearly all the Stanleys in St. George:

One evening Donna and Roger put together this little beauty:

Actually it took some planning and preparation on their part. First, pick up an empty carpet tube from a carpet store. Second, saw it in half lengthwise with a hand or skill saw. Third, line it with tin foil (and Roger made supports so it wouldn't roll, but you could just use a few rocks to steady it.)

Fourth, fill it with ice cream, caramel and chocolate sauce, strawberries, bananas and whipped cream (it helps to have many scoopers. You can also pre-scoop ice cream to a tray and put it in the freezer until you are ready to use it).

Fifth, yell "ready, set, go" and eat as fast as you can.
When you are tired of eating you can throw ice cream at your family members.

It was so much fun and yummy. Perfect family reunion activity.

Looks delicious! Fun idea. Although I would hate to have to be a scooper of all that ice cream.

It goes without saying that this is an outside activity, and that keeping a garden house handy for clean-up of yard and people is helpful. : ) Thanks for hosting everyone, Erin.

PS: We should give credit to Judy Nelson, an old friend from Riverside CA, who gave us the idea originally.

Didn't we do this at a neighborhood party growing up? Except a rain gutter was used instead of the carpet tube. Looks like you had a great time!

What a fun family! And what a great activity--it looks like Jonah particularly enjoyed it!

How fun. I love ice cream and throwing food. The two combined must be great. I'm happy you are having so much fun.
