Homemade Ice Cream

We pulled the ice cream maker out of the cupboard a few weeks ago and boy, did it feel like summer. We love our Cuisinart Ice Cream machine. We just pull the special freezer bowl out of the freezer, let it do it's thing for about 20 minutes and then spoon the ice cream into a tupperware and freeze until we're ready to eat it.

Our favorite recipe is simple and light, creamy, not custardy. Requires no cooking. Basically cream, milk and sugar. (The recipe instructs using a hand mixer, but I just mix by hand.) We have made two kinds: Fresh Strawberry and a vanilla (same recipe sans strawberries or use this recipe for Simple Vanilla Ice Cream). So easy the kids can do it. (In fact that sounds like a really great daily summer chore: make ice cream for your hot pregnant mom.)
