Knives

My parents are coming to visit and you know what that means! Time to get my knives sharpened. I am in love with my knives. Last Christmas my parents gave us a set of Wusthof knives. Quite possibly the best gift I've ever received (sorry Josh). They are incredible and have truly elevated my cooking and my joy of cooking to a new level. I didn't think a good knife would make such a difference. But, they are only incredible if you keep them sharpened. My dad sharpens his knives, but until I learn how, I take mine to Chef Central (the goal is once a year) and pay $1.00 for each blade sharpened. I'm getting them sharpened now to gear up for the big cooking season (you know, the holidays) and also so my Dad thinks I'm as dilligent with my knives as he is with his. I don't put them in the dishwasher (gasp! can you imagine!), but I'm not very good about using that steel thingy. If you are looking to buy new knives I would suggest Wusthof or Henckels.

Lindsey is good at that "steel thingy" she even did a demonstration at Enrichment one night, very professional. I know what you mean about the knives, I love my Henckels. What a nice Dad to give such a good gift. Will you be deep frying the turkey this year again?

You and I think alike. Is it because we live so close to each other? Hmm. I was going to post something about knives in a few weeks to coincide with this great knife sale I go to every year. Good knives are the best kitchen tool ever-besides your bare hands.

They have a knife sharpening guy at the farmers martket but it seems weird to carry around a bunch of knives.

Knife sale? Lindsey. I'm intrigued. I broke my Henkel boning knife last year carving a pumpkin. (Never carve pumpkins with such good knives.) I'm lost without it but am too cheap to buy a new one.
