Hand Over the Chocolate . . . . .

When I was in college I had this cool roommate. Her name was Patty and she was 30 (or so, because she grew up a Jehovah Witness and didn't celebrate birthdays, she was a little fuzzy on this point). She looked like she played softball (which she didn't) and she had a wierd boyfriend who thought maybe he was gay (which he wasn't?). But she was very nice. At this point my sister and I were sharing a room and I guess we ate chocolate a lot, maybe we made brownies or something, because one day Patty gave us t-shirts. One said, "Hand Over the Chocolate and No One Gets Hurt" and the other said something about God creating chocolate (Heather, do you remember?) How do you accept a gift like that graciously? Where do you wear something like that?
Last night in a panic, I realized we had no chocolate in the house and I wanted to cook something chocolatey. I did find Hershey's syrup and figured I could create a cookie out of it. I wanted chocolate crinkle cookies like the lunch ladies made in elementary school, but these turned out cakey. Still pretty good. Necessity is the mother or something like that.
Erin's Chocolate Cookies
Cream
1/2 C. butter
1/2 C. sugar
Add
2 eggs (maybe one would make them less cakey . . . . .?)
3/4 C. Hershey's Syrup
Add
2 1/2 (+) flour
1/2 t. baking soda
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.

I do remember eating chocolate a lot when we were roomies! It was nice because you didn't think I was wierd to need chocolate daily. I also panic when I realize there is no chocolate in the house. I would love the chocolate crinkles receipe we used to eat at school, also the peanut butter bars they would serve on fish stick day. I hated the fish sticks but loved those peanut butter bars.

Erin, I'm so glad you have a blog! I like getting a glimpse into what everyone is thinking and doing.

I had a friend in California who was seriously addicted to chocolate. Her husband brought home a pound+ of See's every night for her/him. She felt she should kick the habit when she joined the Church.

H - I hated that you had to get the fish sticks to get to the peanut butter bars. That's just cruel.
M - Stay tuned for info on blog title.
J - Hmmm, I think that cult shirt disappeared, as did my chocolate shirt.

You better hope Patty doesn't read this! I am happy that you have a blog. Have you tried Ina's recipe for chocolate cupcakes using HERSHEY'S syrup? Mmmmm, if I do say so myself, they are quite good. I am impressed that you can make something without a recipe, that is real talent.

Yum. That's better than the bowl of chocolate frosting and graham cracked I usually eat when I'm craving chocolate.
