Wave Hill

We had a lovely picnic at Wave Hill last week. Wave Hill is so charming and lovely, I feel like I'm visiting a rich friend's country estate when I'm there. On Wednesdays, it's open until 9 pm and the evening hours were a perfect time to be there. It's small, compared to Brooklyn or NY Botanical Gardens, but there is lots of space and lawn for the kids to run around and it's not fenced off. There is also a gorgeous view of the Hudson. The kids couldn't get enough of rolling down the hills, running back up, rolling down the hills, running back up . . .

Jonah took this picture of a frog at the Aquatic Garden:

And, much to my surprise, the kids loved the Pasta, Pesto and Peas. (I did go easy on the garlic in the pesto and halved the recipe and it was still plenty for our family.) I LOVED making fresh pesto with the basil in my "garden." (My garden consists of basil, parsley and mint, impressive, huh?) Such fresh summer flavors, it's definitely a keeper.

I just made pesto too, and it was all going fine until my blender croaked. It's half-done and looking chunky and weak. Wah.

Did you make this for the potluck last week, Erin? It was delicious! Look forward to trying it with my family. I've only been to Wave Hill once. After seeing your pics it made me think it's time to go back.
